RIVER FROME/STROUD/GLOUCESTERSHIRE
Stroud District Council allows free fishing where footpaths permit access within Stroud. But a lot of the river is barred off by security fences. The wild trout here are cautious fellows, much given to scrutinising with care everything that you throw at them.   
That said , other parts of the Frome have large chub (6lb+).  Perhaps there might, just might be some lurking in the Stroud part of the Frome?  If so, winter roving for chub is great fun.. bread flake, lob worm, meat or cheese paste all work well and chub are brilliant on light tackle.
