High Tarns/Lake District/Cumbria

Two things you need to do to fish the High Tarns successfully. One, be physically fit, they can be quite a hike and, as the name suggests, lots of the hike is uphill.  Two, do some research, some Tarns are in private hands, so don’t get caught out.  If you can surmount these two obstacles, it’s glorious fishing for trout and perch.  Mainly trout and mainly by fly.  Ideally, you’ll need a hiking rod that will fit in your backpack: it’s a glorious way to fish.
