SOUTHEAST ENGLAND

RIVER WANDLE, SOUTH LONDON

This region’s close proximity to London ensures that it is built up for large sections.  This limits our choices for free fishing due to demographic pressure.

However, we’ve found a number of excellent spots to share with you.  Including the world famous Wandle that flows through South London where, allegedly, Nelson fished and probably where fly fishing as we now know it originated.

Some are in towns and cities and, of course, you have the entire southeast coast where you can sea fish for free.  We’ll also add some of our favourite sea marks too.

RIVER THAMES/SOUTHEAST ENGLAND

The Thames definitely isn’t a push over in angling terms. On many stretches the fishing for both the barbel and the chub can be challenging, especially during periods when the fish can’t be bothered to eat, or you can’t find them. The rewards are definitely there though, as almost any stretch of the Thames is capable of throwing up huge barbel or chub, and that includes the free fishing stretches, below.  You can also, but it’s more specialist, devote your lifetime to chasing enormous Thames carp.
