HAWESWATER/LAKE DISTRICT

In times out drought, the submerged town of Mardale becomes visible, like a ghostly apparition. This is the most easterly lake of the entire Lake District and is a long curving body of water.    It’s mainly perch and trout, both of which are responsive to a fly well presented.  This would suggest that early mornings and dusk are the most advantageous times to fish here.  You just need to keep on casting until you connect.

There’s numerous lay-bys to park in alongside the lake.
